How this works
Every day, alternative.me scores the crypto market from 0 (very scared) to 100 (very excited), using price swings, buying volume, social media and search interest. We show that number as Market Mood.
To answer "what usually happens next", we put every day since February 2018 into one of three moods: fear (0 to 44), neutral (45 to 55) or greed (56 to 100). We group how long a stretch has lasted into 1 to 2 days, 3 to 6, 7 to 13, or 14 and more. Then we find every past stretch of the same mood that reached the same group, count each one once (on the day it got there), and check where Bitcoin's price was 30 days later.
If fewer than 8 past stretches match, we say there isn't enough history rather than guess. Even with plenty of history, the past only tells you what happened before. It doesn't promise it happens again.
